More than 225 homes\properties have been affected by this one in 250 year rain event. 18 of those houses are on Napier hill. 800 locals went without power for 2 days. Many families are in temporary accommodation while this is going on. It’s now up to insurance companies whether Napier homes damaged in last week's floods will remain standing or if any will be demolished.
In breaker bay,wellington there is a man made cave. A man lived in there called Ross Collins. He slept in his car and sat\ate in the cave. Ross was a retied bus driver who had nowhere to go. Ross saved up enough money to put a storage area,wood planks and a couple blankets. The cave was old & grotty but it had an amazing view.
